Therapy

Individual Therapy

I provide affirming therapy for all people. I am deeply committed to antiracist and LGBTQIA+ inclusive work and advocacy. Sessions are tailored to a person’s needs rather than sticking to one technique or therapeutic orientation. I believe healing and integration are possible and happen in the context of a safe, nurturing relationship. My aim is for you to feel safe and understood so that you can share your story.

In session with me, you will determine the direction you would like to go. I offer a collaborative environment and commit to walking with you throughout the healing process.

Common Areas of Focus:

  • Trauma

  • Post- Disaster/Critical Incident

  • Relationships

  • Grief and loss

  • Gender/Sexual Identity

  • Relational Abuse

  • Burnout/Stress

  • Life Transitions

  • Boundaries/Co-dependency

What I Offer

Dry Reeds

1

Consultation Call

Consult calls are not therapy. The call is a time to determine if we both feel that working together is a good match.  Calls typically last about 15 minutes and I ask you to share a bit about yourself and a what you’re hoping to work on in therapy. I will share about myself and my approach to therapy in addition to answering questions that you may have.

Teletherapy

Cardigan Counseling, LLC offers teletherapy video sessions for your convenience. Teletherapy uses technology to facilitate the therapy session. There is more flexibility to schedule a session on your lunch break or avoid the stress of a lengthy commute.

Research has shown that teletherapy sessions can be just as effective as traditional face-to-face sessions.

About Sessions Health

Therapy sessions are through Sessions Health. This system uses encrypted video technology. You will be able to access a link to follow from your Client Portal and be placed into a virtual waiting room while you wait for the session to begin. Sessions Health adheres to all HIPAA privacy requirements.

In Person Therapy

In-person therapy sessions are conducted at an office in East Nashville. Sessions are available on Saturdays to accommodate those who work Monday through Friday. The office is easily accessible and offers plentiful free parking.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal from symptoms and emotional distress related to disturbing life events. Our bodies and brains are wired to move towards healing, both physically and mentally. Emotional distress can linger following a distressing event, which blocks or throws the system off balance. Once the block is removed, healing and reduction of symptoms can occur. EMDR also targets negative belief systems and can result in greater self-esteem and healthier sense of self.

Expressive Therapies

Sandtray and expressive arts are beneficial additions to the therapeutic process. Having access to more creative interventions allows people to express what can be difficult to verbalize. Expressive therapies integrate the whole brain and body into the therapy experience. Using these tools helps to facilitate growth and change. Artistic skill is not required to benefit from this type of therapy.
